How can you find words for this situation? We never wanted to be here so soon. A world treasure isn’t an overstatement, Dolly was adored worldwide for not only her music but all the good she gave to others. She was one in a million. A diamond in the rough. She was a true Christian, a one that did “love thy neighbour” no matter what.
Dolly grew up in a wooden shack and basically looked after all her siblings. When she made it big, she never forgot her roots. She always had to help and that’s why she said she’d never be a billionaire.
Dolly stood up for vulnerable communities all the time, she didn’t judge, she helped pave the way for acceptance. Girly, even entered a lookalike competition for herself and lost to a drag queen. Iconic or what?!
She was the queen of wigs. She was the queen of country music. One thing many don’t know is that she wrote “I will always love you.” Her version is so emotional that it almost makes me cry every time. It doesn’t get the credit it deserves.
It’s genuinely so hard to process this loss, it felt like she’d live forever. She felt like an eternal part of our lives. She’s influenced generations. All of her songs held up and are still extremely popular.
Her show “Heartstrings” on Netflix, tells the story of her music and is beautiful. You have to watch. It’s magical. She managed to spread magic wherever she went and whatever project she did.
I mean look at Dolly in Hannah Montana, she was iconic. I always remember when she used her nails to pick a lock. I used to try that when younger.
Speaking of nails, did you know she composed part of 9 to 5 using her nails? She didn’t have an instrument with her at the time. False nails actually make such a great sound that normal nails don’t. Genius. Who else could have thought of that?!
I saw her appear in America’s Sweethearts not that long back, that was iconic to watch. It was so exciting. She got all rhinestoned in a custom uniform to perform.
I suggest we get on our false nails and our favourite blonde wig to honour her. She will be greatly missed. She will rest now with her long time husband, Carl who died last year. Their final resting place looks beautiful. Her legacy will absolutely live on, there’s no doubt. We look forward to hearing her final song on her 100th birthday in 20 years, it’s currently locked away in a box in Dollywood.
