I forgot to write this last month and I’m sure you’re wondering how I could forget, a lot goes through my mind and if it’s not written down, it’s gone.
I went to Cliffecon on May 10th, which is in Newton Aycliffe. I was invited there with my friend, Lee, for a The Double L Show special which is our podcast. Shoutout to Studio 54 & Cute Fox Events. I’d never driven that way so made myself proud, even though it was confusing.
We were in a sports complex, it was so retro. It was giving 80’s mixed with my old school. Stalls, traders everywhere you looked and activities outside. We were greeted by a Dalek and I won my bet that I was taller than one. Makes a change. There were loads of props in the door. It was so cool to see.
I brought a special guest with me that I made for the day, CBBC’s Nev the bear. I had to do something as I loved Nev growing up. That was my first mission, find Ross Mullan. He was so impressed with my Nev. Nev got practically blessed as I decided to leave space for him to be signed. My childhood was complete. I could have cried. I got a video message and I’ll keep it forever. I promised I’d make Ross one for next time. Mentally need to figure out how to find materials again.

We then met David Gooderson who played Davros in Doctor Who. This was awesome and such a pleasure. Me and Lee were speaking about how the character of Davros is a legend and that people would rather the daleks take control of the country at this point. We later saw him looking inside one of the daleks. It was cool and I wish I could have got a photo of that.

There were Q&A’s going on in the function room and we couldn’t find it. We looked but were so confused as to where everyone went. There was a door outside which we luckily found by the afternoon. Silly us.
We went shopping for cute accessories and unique gifts. It was an explosion of Kawaii. We got talking about photography. We then ended up addicted to fidget cones which we had to buy. I mean addicted. They were hot off the printer so needed messing on with anyway. I was like “what a way to lure adhd’ers.” And then we get a “I knew it.” Guilty. Lee loved his so much he had no idea Paige Turco had just walked past him. Typical Lee.
We managed to find the function room in time to listen to a Q&A with Georgia Hirst & Richard Ashton to hear about Vikings. We got to hear about loads of the behind the scenes which was awesome. We learnt a lot about stunts and how they’re done safely. It was awesome. We then went to meet Georgia after, she’s so sweet and has the best fashion. It’s comfy and casual. Goals.
We lastly met Paige Turco, we were running out of time at this point. We waited for quite a while nervously. Paige is lovely. It was an honour to meet her. We had a conversation about how a friend was on set of The 100, got me the whole casts signature and they got left in a hotel room in Canada. I could have cried for years. It still drives me insane.

I got to chat with my old media lecturer, Keith who brings his dalek to the con’s. It was nice to catch up as I hadn’t seen him in nearly 7 years.
I had so much fun and was warn out.

The most difficult part of the day was the drive because the venue was remote, I would say. I’ve never seen as many roundabouts in my life and it was confusing. Ever seen a double roundabout? Be glad.
When I finally got back home, rewarded with a tomato garlic bread. Chefs kiss 🥰
