It’s bad enough that TikTok is now banned in America meaning that we around the world can’t watch some of the funniest videos online. It’s like a chain of events. It’s one of the easiest platforms to learn from, I’ve learnt about cultures and events from all over the world, it’s not going to be the same anymore. It’s got the best algorithm for sure and with curate content that you enjoy. You rarely miss updates from creatives as it knows you want to see them. Now my favourites creatives who caught me about crafting, photography, adventures, charity and more will be gone. Potentially for good. It is so regulated that it has never done more harm than good to the average person.
Facebook has been dying for years since they got rid of chronological order posts. People think I’m joking when I say I never see anyone’s posts. I don’t see anything from my friends, the whole feed is spam, fake pages, scams and more. Content is completely unregulated and it’s became okay to post absolutely anything without it being taken down. The only way you can find what your friends are up to is by messenger. If you even try to look back at conversations, you can’t. They’re gone. Have you lost a photo you sent to someone? Too late. Gone forever. It’s no surprise people are boycotting.
Instagram’s new update is causing hell for all users since they spontaneously got rid of their square feed and replaced it with portrait. Ironic that it’s at the exact time TT was being banned. As someone who has crafted the most aesthetic feed as I possibly could for 5 years, it has been destroyed. Every photo is off centre, nothing matches up, it looks ugly. It was my creative portfolio, an art presentation, now it looks stupid. It’s the worst thing ever. I can’t even look at it without wanting to cry or scream. All we wanted was to see who unfollows us but no, ruin the whole app. I tried to switch to an alternative but it is so slow that I couldn’t sign up.
Don’t even start me on X. Everyone knows what type of app that’s become, to me, it’s the true definition of hell. Anything can be said and done without reprimand. I once saw someone with an inconspicuous profile plotting something against “anyone diverse” they were saying how much they wanted the UK to be white again. It was scary.
Safe to say, I miss the good era of socials which is long gone. We likely will never get it back again.
