We talk a lot about music on Supajam, and we’re now proud to present The Music Shelf, our own series of live sessions with real musicians. On Wednesday, April 26th you’ll be able to hear our first episode, with Ferris & Sylvester performing just for you.
How is this possible? Supajam is a group of post-16 colleges in the UK specializing in music schooling for people who found the other sorts of school not yet right for their needs, and their study is tailored to them. Our neurodivergent students get a grounding in all aspects of modern music, including production, which is why we have a Radio station run by them, why we will be launching a breakfast show on it, and why our students are putting their learning into practical lessons like creating and running The Music Shelf live sessions. We encourage artists to experiment with their sound and setup, performing stripped, acoustic or alternative versions of their music, sharing the stories behind their songs and working closely with our students who take on roles such as Photography, Videography, Video Editing, Sound Engineering and Artist Liaison.
Future guests include UK Jungle duo the Ragga Twins, indie performer Baby Dave, and of course Ferris & Sylvester, who said this of their session:
‘We have had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful staff and students of Supajam a few times over the last couple of years. We have loved meeting all the students, who are so curious, interested and passionate about music, along with their incredible teachers who go above and beyond to open up a bright future for them. It is such an inspiring place and we are in awe of the community that the Supajam family have built.’
Franky Perez said “My visit to the SupaJam was one of the highlights of my career.”
The first session is now live. Enjoy Ferris & Sylvester:
