Okay, so how did these manage to take over the world within a month and where is everyone getting the money from? “Cost of living crisis?” I saw hundreds lining the streets of my local city centre to buy theirs. It’s rumoured that people have been spending up to £1000 to get their desired one.
I didn’t understand the craze that was infiltrating my social media or the difference between labubu and lafufu till last week. I prefer to not spend a big sum of money on something like that therefore I set out to find where these lafufus are after realising I liked them better. They’re slightly defective which I relate to haha.
I went to multiple places and they were all gone. Shelves wiped out in my local city centres. I finally manage to find somewhere with new stock. 2 for £10 so I got the 4 types and did an unboxing. I was nervous and getting a dopamine hit from wondering what I was going to get, plus, would it be fluffy? The rainbow one was obvious but adorable. Love it. It’s giving drunk at pride.
Big energy, I was hoping for the luck as it looked lilac and that’s my favourite colour. When I opened it and I mean, when, it took awhile, the box then the bag. It was an ombré splotch of mint greens with matching eyes. Super cute. Its little head was backwards and its feet but they turn.
The next was a mystery packet, no idea what the selection was, there was just colours on the packet. The biggest being brown. I open and it is the brown one which kinda looks like me. Brown hair, brown eyes, twinning.
The final was the mystery Coca Cola, you have 2 options. I didn’t know which or if there was other colours. I got the one holding the coke bottle with a Santa hat. That one will make a good pun for Christmas. Might stick it on the tree.
You just know they’ll bring them out for the tree. I’m waiting for McDonald’s to collaborate to boost their sales from all the ongoing boycotts. I can imagine all types of merch. Count me in for slippers.
People are customising their lafufus into horror movie icons which is interesting to say the least.
The worst bit of this trend is the fact arcades are putting lafufus in machines and saying they’re labubus. People are spending loads of money only to find they’re fakes. That’s such a scam and just not okay!
