Sobbing. This movie was so sweet and wholesome. From its announcement I knew it would leave me feeling whole. It was cute. I’m a sucker for Connie Britton. She’s awesome, although, I don’t forgive her for leaving Nashville or 9-1-1. Why did they have to have her die in this? I am still traumatised. Basically, her character has cancer and during her realisation life is ending, she sorts everything out. She finds a list her daughter, Alex did as a kid with goals for life and decides to push her in the right direction. She knew Alex was lost and wanted her to be found. She leaves Alex the list and a DVD for every item on the list. For each item complete, she gets a new disk. In the end, she gets given her actual inheritance. She was devastated originally about getting nothing. She wanted the company to carry on a legacy.
The only bonus is she meets Brad, he’s a lawyer and a cute one at that. I love Kyle Allen, he’s always reminded me of a young David Duchovny. You just knew that him and Alex were gonna get together, it was predictable. I kind of wish it wasn’t, I like uncertainty.
Death makes us have realisations about what we want and I think what happens, happens for the best. In the case of Alex, she did everything the way it was meant to be. Although, at times, I’m like “nope, red flag” sometimes people aren’t who they seem to be at first and it’s disappointing.
This movie has been out since the start of the month and I’m coming back to this article at the end to say how much of an impact this movie has had on people. Loads of young women have took on board their own list to make their life better and to get answers. I think it’s amazing that a movie can generate this much hype. It’s rare for a Netflix movie to get this as well. There’s tribute videos all over the internet for all characters, it’s an absolute hit. Yes it’s a bit cringe worthy in places but it’s also extremely soppy and sweet. I think we need more meaningful movies and not the basic romance film. It’s really set the tone for the future. I hope that more like this will follow in the future.
