The Pitt: Dana Evans By Lola Louise

October 1, 2025

Congratulations to the class act that is Katherine LaNasa on being nominated and winning her first Emmy award for supporting actress. Recently she’s been described as the “modern day Audrey Hepburn” and “someone to take notes from.”

Dana Evans is what I call the Mother of the department. She’s in charge of keeping all the children around her in line and respectable. She’s naturally caring and wants the best for those around her. She takes things to heart and carries the weight of the world.

She is probably the most powerful and important character on the show, she has a lot of responsibility to upkeep and a lot of love to give, although in reality, we see that it isn’t given back. She’s the key leader in making the department flow and without her it will crash and burn.

Within seconds, you can tell she’s a stand out character by the way she relates to those she cares about. She knows the right words to say and how to motivate others. She has her dark side to deal with the trauma that comes along with healthcare.

The amount of rewatches I’ve done just to pick up little hints of what could be coming. You just never know.

She’s the character that deserves endless hugs and you just want to make sure she’s protected. The scene where she’s beat up for stating obvious situations, it broke my heart and I sobbed. She deserved much better. It was heartbreaking as it broke her spirit too. She didn’t know whether she could continue on but without her the team falls apart. She’s vital and not everyone can be as special as she is. That is seen when she takes timeout.

If Katherine didn’t win the award for her role, I would have kicked off as it would have been a major injustice. She absolutely carried the show. I wouldn’t have continued watching if it wasn’t for her amazing energy that made me click with her. She’s what Gen Z call “Mother.” The best compliment.

I am excited to see where Dana’s journey goes in the second season. I want to potentially see how she’d cope if her family cross paths with her work. It would be an interesting dynamic. She’s normally in control and quite chill, would her demeanour change completely having faced with a challenge that hits personally. She hints towards her daughter worrying her sick, hinting that she’s always up to something. I like contrast. Bring on January.
