I was at my Grandparents again. Ironically, 10 years ago me and my grandma watched the 30th anniversary together. She can’t remember it, but, luckily I can. We turned the TV 3D to watch the car crash off the cliff, then the helicopter crash. It was all around intense and amazing which is why yesterday’s was pathetic.
Where was the intense drama? It felt very certain of how everything would be. It didn’t feel like they could even put characters in real jeopardy, it felt there was no real risk anyone significant could die. That’s a major problem. The potential dying characters, it wasn’t intense at all. You weren’t on the edge of your seat. You weren’t invested. Everything was all under wraps within one day. It didn’t help putting episodes back to back with no recovery period after the episodes. That’s what made previous anniversaries important. This was rushed. No episodes till 2027 now. It will all be forgotten by then and everyone will be healed. I mean they were practically healed within the special. It was like a happy ever after ending.
It started with an explosion. I’m sorry, but, putting it at a different hospital just made it boring because it’s not significant in any way. It didn’t make things chaotic in the way planned. I’ve seen disasters more chaotic in non special episodes. I’m really disappointed that this is the standard of writing. It’s incredibly underwhelming.
It was a supposed bomb but then it ended up being a gas explosion. They should have went with actual bomb threat, that would have been more interested. They did a bomb at an airport one series. That episode was fire.
I apologise but some of the acting is so bad. It’s distracting. It lacked the emotion needed to actually emphasise chaos. It felt unserious. There’s no powerhouse to lead the drama, no 100% believable performance. The only standout performance was Dylan, 100%. Ethan, also.
The first proper episode I ever watched on this show was Christmas, Series 26. It was intense from the get go. You actually were gripped. They need to take lessons from older episodes if they want this show to continue, otherwise, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets the axe. It’s pretty messy with the current format. There’s no easy way to catch up.
Please writers, there’s so much you can do but instead, it’s underwhelming.
