Almost everyone has heard of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, they’re infamous. Many girls wanted to grow up to be one, every Halloween girls dressed up as them and still do to date. But it’s not just about the beauty, it’s about the amazing talent that comes through the doors to audition for the squad each year, fighting for a place to make the final team of 36. There was 16 seasons of this until 2021 and then Netflix picked up a reboot “America’s Sweethearts” which was filmed 2023’s season.
I had no idea they played Making the team in the UK till about a month or so ago, I was at my friends and was scrolling through the TV guide, not much was on and I kept going. I come into the 130 channels and there it is. You can bet I jumped up and down. I think season 12 was playing then. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to watch. Even better, it plays all day until around 5 or 6pm. What a win.
I first started watching properly at the start of season 14. Let me tell you, that season had me all over emotionally. I couldn’t grasp the amount of talent and also, the lack of DCC material. Do you ever just have second hand embarrassment so bad that you have to cover your eyes? There was moments like that all the through.
My favourite of the season would have to be Kelcey, she was a powerhouse throughout and a real standout through the season. Slay queen.
Season 15 was the weirdest because it was the COVID season. Auditions done virtual and then people get invited to a bubble. It was all over the place drama. I loved the group’s personality though. It was a lovely supportive environment.
My standouts for that season are Claire & Armani. I loved them from day one, they stole everyone’s attention. You couldn’t take your eyes off their skills.
Season 16, the final one. Although confused, I thought there was a 17. I was disappointed that there wasn’t. There were many changes this season, the game layout has changed, they were outside for a game day. They changed some of the routine. There was a disaster with a heat wave. It went all out. Not one thing was predictable.
My standout is Kleine. I adore her personality and skills. She brought I different dance style and dynamic to the team.
I urge you to give this fun show a go. It’s on MTV, Paramount, Pluto and then there is the season on Netflix.
