No Good Deed: Review By Lola Louise

January 3, 2025

This show has been long awaited for me. I’m a simp for Linda Cardellini and have been since ER. I haven’t seen her on my screen since Dead To Me, ironically created by the same team. It’s just a big shame despite the trailer looking amazing that it doesn’t hit. It’s kind of a stupid show that barely has any plot.

Everyone’s obsessed with this house and will do anything to have it. The house is called “La feliz” which translated to “the happy house” such a bad name. There’s not really anything special about it so it doesn’t make sense why people are obsessed.

The owner is meant to be a retired pianist but doesn’t touch the piano and we never see why she’s supposedly so good. She’s too busy talking to her dead son who she thinks is still present in the house due to a light flickering.

Then an attempted/future death takes place over the deed to the house, blah, blah, blah, so predictable. They hide him in a former cupboard and brick the wall up. It’s too weird and stupid. Like, is that the best idea someone could come up with? Common sense would say that when the person dies, you would be able to smell the rotting since it was only bricked over.
Are the characters meant to be this stupid and lack common sense? I genuinely started to give up at this point as even Dhar Mann videos are more interesting.

It makes no sense as a writer going from Dead To Me which was actually good to No Good Deed? The only things they have in common are murders, Linda, LA & the genre. Except at least Dead To Me was funny. This just isn’t. It flops. Not worth the hype they gave in the trailer. I haven’t seen anyone talk about it at all which shows that it isn’t a hit at all.

In a series you want to actually have characters that are likeable but they’re insufferable and entitled. You need to be able to root for someone and there’s no-one like that.

I can see it now being cancelled. I mean, most series are cancelled by Netflix after 1 season.

These shows have huge budgets and they don’t deserve it. Give money like that to a new creative with good idea instead, they’d at least make it worthwhile and for less.
