The Pitt Episodes 1 and 2 By Lola Louise

February 3, 2025

Okay, the time has come for me to review this show. I was worried before starting that I would really love it. I kept an open mind but honestly, it falls flat like some of the other medical dramas out there. It’s not gripping, it’s not intense, it’s kinda dry. Each episode equals an hour of the characters lives, it follows on each episode but somehow it doesn’t work as great as you’d expect. Here’s the things I’ve picked up on:

There’s barely any context on who this Dr Adamson is? Like why are we supposed to care? There’s obviously some tie between Dr Robbie. It needs better establishing. Also, who is Jake? It somehow feels like they expect us to know.

Dr King seems like she will crack a lot before she succeeds. Pretty sure she’s autistic, she definitely meets the criteria. I mean the amount of info dumping. Plus, she can’t tell if someone is joking. Hopefully she can blossom more.

The characters aren’t developed enough to be likeable at all. There’s little hints but nobody is established. We know who the protagonists are but everyone else is kind of slept on. There’s a lot of wasted potential. I feel like a lot of them are too similar personality wise, there should be more of a variety.

Dr McKay had an ankle bracelet on but why? What did she do? Would they let her still work?

No doctors would care enough to chase after a family relative, even if he was a potential shooter. That’s what the police are for. Especially considering one of the doctors got told off for talking to her patient too long. It’s a bit hypocritical.

Why didn’t they just use translate for the patient through a phone? You can speak and it can detect languages. It would have been much easier and saved wasting other peoples time.

You can barely keep up and learn names which isn’t great. Thank you, IMDb.

I feel like there needs to be more of a distinction between med students interns and higher ups, it’s hard to know who is what level due to the fact they wear the same scrub colour. At least with other medical dramas it is more established.

Dr Robby should not travel to work in what he’s wearing on shift as it’s too easy to transmit germs from outside. I also feel like they’re quite a bit behind with what you’d expect to happen in the department. Even I was ahead of them and I learnt medicine in my spare time. It feels inaccurate.

Javadi says she worked really hard to get where she is at 20 but both her parents work in the same hospital so clearly not. She’s a nepo baby with a major leg up in her potential career, although, I don’t see her succeeding in emergency medicine.

The banter and tension doesn’t hit the way it was intended. You know it was meant to be kinda funny, it flops. It’s disappointing.

The endings are way too sudden that it doesn’t seem to sit right. It would be better to have a cliffhanger ending. I may continue to review this series as it goes.
