So, Ginny and Georgia’s newest season should have been watched by everyone by now, so spoilers shouldn’t be an issue, I hope. Despite all the things I could say are wrong with it, I’ll say what I thought it did right.
The characters are always a highlight, but this season, three stuck out. Max, Marcus, and Abby.
Max is the standoutof the season. Sara Waisglass gives a career-defining performance. Her emotions are on full display, and you can see she is suffering in silence. She doesn’t look for the attention when she wants to speak up, but because Marcus is going through a tough time, she has to go through it by herself. I also get a neurodivergent spark with her, and when they showed the clip of when she was young.
Marcus is a highlight for men suffering in silence. He can speak to many who find themselves in a similar situation. His grades are plummeting and him turning to alcohol are clear signs that someone isn’t doing well. As someone who has been struggling with mental health and had a similar moment months ago his outburst at the end really hit hard. You can watch him struggling and trying to act tough.
Abby has multiple arcs to her character. First, we see her suffering with bulimia and recognizing those symptoms and behaviours in another student and trying to reach out to them. When she starts opening up about her weight loss, she is kissed by another female student, and you can see that Abby enjoyed it. She later develops feelings for her female tutor, who is her age, and they kiss and become a thing. You watch her grow over this season and see her trying to help others while going through major changes herself.

I really enjoyed this analysis of Ginny & Georgia! The show does a fantastic job of exploring complex relationships and real-life struggles, particularly the bond between the two central characters. The way it blends drama, humor, and emotional depth really makes it stand out in the crowded teen drama genre. I agree with the points made about how it’s able to tackle heavier themes without losing its relatability. Definitely looking forward to seeing how the show evolves in future seasons!
