The Cuban Brothers continued their love-affair with Rob da Bank yesterday, lighting up the main stage of Camp Bestival. Laiden with turquoise, tassels and an unmistakable enthusiasm for everything, fun, up-beat and entertaining, the Scottish (or perhaps more accurately, Cuban) outfit left nothing to chance pulling out all the stops in a colourful performance.

Lead singer Mike Keats unrivalled charisma lights up seemingly everyone that he encounters. With continued laughs, and most importantly a voice that shouldnt be understated (he certainly packs a punch), the band have a focal point in a visually enticing live show.

Unfortunately however, whilst their instantly-endearing creativity for stage performance entertains, it is hard not to think their vibrant music deserves more of a spectacle in the form of live instruments when in a festival environment. We are, at times, left wanting more from the Scottish outfit given their obvious talent in recreating such iconic genres of music in the form of Disco, Funk and Soul.

That said, their continued prominence within the festival scene – and in particular Bestival and Camp Bestival – is nothing surprising. Their understanding of both the demographic and feel of Camp Bestival was perfectly executed and allowed all ages to get involved in a solid fourty-five minute set.
