Camp Bestival – De La Soul

August 3, 2014

Ending Saturday night with a bang were hip-hop legends De La Soul, who this year are celebrating their 25th anniversary as a group.

After a late start, they certainly didnt disappoint and despite 25 years already under their belt, they showed no signs of slowing down in what was an unmissable set. With their euphoric hip-hop beats and an unwillingness to accept nothing but maximum crowd participation, the Long Island hip-hop heroes captured the hearts of Camp Bestival, playing hits such as The Magic Number and Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey).

Much to the amusement of the Saturday night headline crowd, De La Soul had some fun with their 1991 favourite A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays regularly restarting to ask the crowd their favourite day of the week, which somewhat predictably was of course, Saturday. Imagine the destruction if theyd played on Friday, eh?

Exiting to an instrumental of Feel Good Inc, children, parents and everyone in between had been wowed as De La Sould provided a timely reminder of why they hold such an iconic status within hip-hop history.
