Bringing their set to La Pussy Parlure Nouveau at quarter to one in the morning are mathematical, groove-professors Hiatus Kaiyote.
When they were booked for this set, the group must have been nervous. It is the kind of slot and stage that is either empty or, like in thist instance, is packed to the hilt. As one of the only live groups on during the early hours, there’s a spontaneity and freedom to both their work and performance. Most of the time is spent in the engine room, with obscure jazz chords accentuating smooth changovers that Frank Zappa would be proud of.
They manage to create and maintain an equally inviting and seductive atmosphere.
