Walking like a trail of zombies into the bustling tent, the lure of ‘Hozier’ is undeniable. The raspy voice of Irish musician Andrew Hozier-Byrne is earthy and primal and the audience instinctively respond by a worshipping sea of nodding and hip swaying.
BBC Radio Six Music stage got it right with timing and not for the first time this weekend,Hozier’s set blew all other stages out of the water.
“We’re guna have some fun, what a day it is’ Byrne exclaimed to the crowd, before smashing out his unlikely choice of a cover rendition, ‘One Thing’ by Amerie.
The stage show was dynamic with multiple instuments centered around Byrne’s effortless and confident performance. The musicwas a mixture of bluesy vocals, which emulated’Only By The Night’era ‘Kings Of Leon’, tied in with gospel fringing.
