Strawberry fields, what a great little festival you are! After battling with the wind to put up the tent and realising we’d forgotten the pump for the air bed, I went out in search for what the festival had to offer.

At first it seemed pretty quiet out there. I quietly hoped it was down to people having to travel on a Friday after work, but to be honest the stages didn’t really pack out until the evening for the headline. However the music more than made up for it.

Friday brought in great performances from Just James (who we interviewed here), The Fallows and headliner Jaguar Skills on the Friday. As well as a strange performance from Tyler Mae who had what I can only describe as a hype man who ran around the stage yelling “shit” and ordering everyone to start a mosh pit. Needless to say we all obliged.

Taking a trip around the fields themselves the festival had a great mix of vendors. Although much to my dismay and surely a trick lost (PR team)none selling strawberries. There was a brilliant curry van and a vendor called ‘Vandos’ (I’ll give you one guess as to what they sell) and a favourite food van of mine called ‘Camp Cooks’, run by guys dressed in drag who flirt with passers by and put on karaoke in the evening. What more could you want?

Saturday saw the awesome Dinosaur Pile Up who were superb both on and off stage. We managed to catch up with the lads after their set. Lucy Rose wowed the crowd with her beautiful and elegant music and headliners The Enemy, who delivered a killer headline set and filled the main stage area with lots of very happy people.

The entertainment ran well past the midnight hour. Having lots of party tents to drink and dance in until 2am can’t be a bad thing and on Saturday night I found myself dancing around in the Set Stage tent to No Way Pedro who ended their DJ set with an awesome remix of Mr Brightside by The Killers. Perfect!

Sunday definitely had an aftermath feel, seeing lots of people nursing hangovers but this was all made better with blues performances from the likes of the very strange but extremely entertaining Preacher and the Bear. They opened the main stage on Sunday morning (although they weren’t in my good books as they had woken us all up with an air horn at 8am).

Overall Strawberry Fields was a great festival and always had lots to do. It definitely didn’t lack in good music and although the crowds were sometimes small the evenings at SF always picked up and were buzzing with people enjoying themselves.

Great job Strawberry Fields. Can’t wait to see the line up for next year!
