Having seen Frank Turner play to 350 people in a 200 capacity venue, stood atop a pool table, screaming his battered and bruised ditties to the heavens, it’s difficult to imagine him being able to rekindle the same flames to thousands on the much-maligned Other Stage in the afternoon. Turner managed, through his songs, to cultivate the same intimacy.
In the big band style ending to the set, jumping in amongst the crowd with his four simple words and how “I want to dance”, he has a traditional charm and rapport with the audience that hasn’t been bettered over the weekend. ‘I Still Believe’ is the gauntlet thrown for his claim for a late night on the Pyramid Stage.
