Yngve and The Innocent at Hop Farm 2012

July 1, 2012

It’s pronounced Ing-Vuh. Glad we got that out of the way.

Anyway, these guys should be on a bigger stage. They should be playing to billions, possibly even trillions. The band kicks straight into some driving folk-rock with Yngve’s voice calling to the heavens, singing words of rapturous purity. Last year’s single Draw A Line sounds like the beginning of the next award-winning British sitcom, in an excellent way. There’s also cowbell AND a funky bass line at one point.

They gleefully rumble their set to a close with their new single You’ll Be Mine. It’s a heady roller that thunders along to a rapturous applause. A small army assembles in front of the stage at the end to buy CDs and grab flyers. I hope they tell all of their friends, who tell all of theirs. This is why I do this, so that more people hear about unbelievable bands like this. Go and listen to them. Go and see them. You will be happy.
