In a world of easily accessible playlists on every genre, radio faces a tough challenge. Some try to fix this with DJs, and that really becomes a matter of personality and taste. Some try to overcome this with pure banging tunes, and Absolute Radio really does a good job, with stations for 60s, 70s, 80, 90s, 00s and a general mixed station. Lots of hits, lots of specificity.
For a while now they’ve run a subscription service for online listeners that replaces all the adverts with songs, and it’s well worth it, but not sub users have access to a whole new channel: Halloween.
That’s right, 24/7 Halloween songs. Like being in a supermarket at Christmas but for goths.
