Fagans, a pub in the middle of Sheffield, had an uncertain future when the pair of landlords who’d been running it for thirty seven years retired. Tom and Barbara Boulding’s departure left a huge hole, and are people your scribe has probably met as he’s been in Fagans…

But step forward Matt Helders, drummer of the Arctic Monkeys, whose one of a nine strong group to take over the pub. Other members of the group include Mark Berbert and Niall Shamma from local music firm Warp.

Member David House explained “We don’t want to change the heart and soul of the place, so it’s still going to look the same… We’ll be adding little touches, but we’ll still have proper Guinness. All the musicians want to stay, so there’ll still be five nights of music a week and a quiz, and, after last time, Robbie Williams is still barred from coming in! The biggest change will be having a card machine!”
