Aretha Franklin’s son shouts for biopic boycott

Jennifer Hudson was handpicked by Aretha Franklin to play the soul legend in a biopic about her, and ‘Respect’ is coming out later in 2020. Hudson can, of course, genuinely sing and act, but not everyone is pleased with how this has gone.

Aretha passed away in 2018, but her son has gone public with complaints about the film which seem to focus on the fact he wasn’t more involved, and the family disagree with what’s being portrayed. I mean we can tell his he’s annoyed because his Facebook post was mostly all caps:

“ONCE AGAIN….. THE FRANKLIN FAMILY (DOES NOT) SUPPORT THE MOVIE THAT IS IN PRODUCTION!!!!! NOR DO WE SUPPORT THE BOOK “THE QUEEN NEXT DOOR”!!!!! NEITHER ENTITY FELT THE NEED TO CONTACT THE (CORE) FAMILY ABOUT ANYTHING!!!! HOW CAN YOU MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT A PERSON AND NOT TALK TO THE PERSONS SONS OR GRANDCHILDREN ABOUT IMPORTANT INFORMATION? HOW CAN YOU PUT A PERSONS FAMILY (IMAGE) IN A BOOK AND NOT ASK PERMISSION? IF YOU ARE A “REAL” FAN OF MY MOTHERS….PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS. ASK YOURSELF….WOULD YOU WANT THIS DONE TO YOU? (side note: the “ONLY” person my mother was in favor of for the movie was JENNIFER HUDSON. period. Everything else is being done against our wishes) (please share)
THE “REAL” FRANKLIN FAMILY (sons and grandchildren)”
