A bit of daytime tv for you now: between 1995 and 1997, David bowie worked on a set of forty seven paintings, which he signed and dated. One of these was named ‘D Head XLVI’, and it’s history led it to be sold for five Canadian dollars last year at a donation centre at a landfill in Ontario.

Now, in the last few days, the same painting sold in a fine arts auction for approximately £63,000, aka even David Dickenson would be impressed.

Bowie expert Andy Peters (not that one) authenticated the work and said “When I first saw the painting, I knew what it was straightaway… I did not need to see the autograph on the back because I knew, but obviously the signature sealed the deal.”
