Black Deer Festival Announce More Great Acts

By MediaMonkey

September 23, 2021
Black Deer is the UK’s premier event for Americana. Not just the bands, although they are great, but the food, the culture and the bikes of the American south. With the best street food, smokehouse experts and a visit from Harley Davidson themselves, there’s plenty to do in this three day festival even if you didn’t visit one of the stages…

…but with the choice of bands, there’s no way you’d skip the stages. With Covid having wiped out both 2020 and 2021, the triumphant return in 2022 is being billed as the festival ‘three years in the making’, and we’ve already had big reveals of Wilco, The Waterboys, Foy Vance, Drive by Truckers and Dead South. Today, however, we have more great line up announcements:

Imelda May, Ward Thomas, Shovels and Rope, Shooter Jennings, Courtney Marie Andrews and many more will be spread over the three days of June 17th to 19th in Eridge Park Kent. Tickets are available right now, and the festival remains true to it’s commitment to give 1500 away to NHS workers.

So, let’s dig into those bands shall we? Here’s some music to get you in the mood:

Here’s Imelda May with ‘Call Me’

But as we’ve been talking about the Metallica Blacklist project, here’s Imelda singing The God That Failed. Would be make her Black Deer set? We’ll see.

Then here’s twenty minutes of Shovels and Rope recorded live at home:

Finally, here’s nearly thirty minutes of Courtney Marie Andrews like on KEXP.
