Black Deer Focus: Midnight Skyracer

January 15, 2021
Midnight Skyracer are the first British band to ever be nominated for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Awards, which surprises us to be honest: not that the band’s crisp tones aren’t good enough, but that no one came before them. As you can guess from the nomination, this quintet sound like bluegrass through and through, true followers of US folk than their native Britain and Ireland.

They’ve released two albums, the critically acclaimed Fire, and a 2020 released called Shadows On the Moon. We’ve got the title track of the latter for you today, and you can see why the most common parallel is probably Alison Krauss and Union Station. We’ve also got Virginia Rose, and I’m Just Here To Ride The Train.

Midnight Skyracer will be performing at Black Deer Festival 2021, June 18-20. Tickets from https://blackdeerfestival.com/
