Now, given the state of musicians, you might have read the headline and thought, oh, Blur’s drummer will be standing as the Monster Raving Loony candidate in the next General Election.

But no.

Dave Rowntree has been selected as the actual candidate for the actual Labour party. So, err, not really sure why either of the two main parties appeals Dave, but hey ho.

Dave was previously the Labour candidate for a London constituency but lost.

However, it’s uncertain whether we’ll ever see Dave lying in parliament. His seat is Mid Sussex, and in the 2019 election Labour were third with 17.9% of the vote, behind the Lib Dems at 24.3 and Tories on 53.3.
