Every so often, a band sponsors a football team, a move which helps doubly financially via shirt sales.

Today comes news Deftones are entering into the game, as they will sponsor a local youth football team call Los Jaguares, who come from Sacramento.

“We designed some custom jerseys and a soccer ball that will become part of the kids’ official kits in the new year,” said the official announcement.

“Sales of the collection support Los Jaguares, a team of boys and girls ages 11-14 from Oak Park – the same neighbourhood that shaped us. Every order helps keep soccer free for the kids and supports programs that help them on and off the field.”

“Your purchase helps guarantee soccer remains free for every player, while providing vital access to fields, quality coaching, and healthy snacks.”

They also said “When we heard about this group of kids growing up in our hometown in need of support, we jumped at the opportunity.”

“Soccer and music are both about connection and expression, and having a strong community that nourishes this during developmental years is so important.”

“We’re stoked to be able to give back and make a positive change in their lives, and our hope is to encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams despite any odds.”

Shirts cost £69.00.
