Eric Clapton reportedly bankrolled anti vaccine band

There’s an interesting new article from Rolling Stone this weekend, focusing on Eric Clapton’s support for an anti-vaccine band. Yes, the man who is so racist the Rock Against Racism campaign was literally formed to counter him has turned his attention to lockdown.

The report focused on the actions of Jam for Freedom, a band who travel round the country playing open air gigs (the ‘jams’) with lyrics like “stick your poisonous vaccine up your arse.” Their fluff claims they’re “spearheading the pro-freedom revolution happening globally as a response to restrictions on our basic human rights to work, travel and live” which basically means they’re anti-lockdown. However, as they’ve toured they’ve encountered problems and their equipment got damaged.

Enter Eric Clapton. He donated a thousand quid to a GoFundMe the group had created, and when the group made contact to establish if it was the real Clapton or a spoof, they got a message: “It was something complimentary, along the lines of, ‘Hey, it’s Eric – great work you’re doing,’,” they told Rolling Stone.

Then they got to meet the man, and he offered them the use of his own personal van to help travel, and then donated more for a new van.

In the article the band claim Clapton is having trouble playing after side effects from… you guessed it, the vaccine.
