Live music has taken a huge hit with the pandemic, but it turns out people still want to play music… and we know this because Fender, makers of iconic guitars, have revealed they’re on their way to their biggest sales figures ever.
Fender are as surprised as anyone: I “never would have thought” Chief Exec Andy Mooney told New York Times “would be where we are today if you asked me back in March”.
Given the number of beginner’s kits and signups to their educational apps, it’s believed sales are down to people who’d always wanted to play guitar starting to learn during lockdown. A wave of YouTube stars must surely follow.
