Scotland have reached the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, which means Scottish football fans will be placing a priority on watching the guaranteed matches.
However, this gave attendees of Scotland’s largest festival, TRNSMT, a dilemma, as on the night of June 19th they’d be watching Richard Ashcroft headline rather than seeing the 11pm kick off of Scotland vs Morocco.
But no fear, TRNSMT are football fans themselves and they’ve put procedures in place: Richard’s headline set will start earlier in the day, giant screens will be set up, and anyone with a ticket can stay and watch the match rather than race home.
Chief Executive Geoff Ellis explained: “This is going to be a historic moment for the festival and one we are incredibly excited about,. It’s sure to be a night that will live long in the memory… I couldn’t think of a better addition to the Main Stage line-up than the Scotland national team, and showing the game will create a unique atmosphere, bringing the Hampden roar to Glasgow Green.”
“Giving our fans the chance to see their favourite bands and then watch the game with thousands of Scotland fans in a World Cup is the stuff dreams are made of, and it shows exactly how TRNSMT is much more than a music festival.”
