The news that Chris Rock had come up with a new take on the Saw movies was fascinating, because he’s always had an interesting approach to material across genres, and Saw needed a fresh infusion of ideas more than its ever done. This has turned into a movie called Spiral, subtitled from the Book of Saw, and it’s not a remake but a new entry in the world.
We’ve got a trailer now, and yes, creepy puppets, the ‘spiral’ pattern and gruesome deaths are all involved. Plus… well we won’t spoiler that bit. The trailer came out officially today (5th Feb) because it came out unofficially on Reddit.
You can see the full thing May 15th, and here’s Chris explaining to the haters why they should shut up: “By the way, the new Saw, I’ve seen like a rough cut. It’s still Saw… it’s bloody, it’s gory, but there’s like a sprinkling of humour here and there. We’re not revamping it, it’s not Scary Movie, it’s Saw…”
We are looking forward to this.
