Years ago, bands released songs to tie-in with movies, because movies were a massive cultural presence.
No one seems to care about movies anymore, but video games have had a cluster of tie-in songs recently.
It’s Blood Red Shoes turn, as they’ve released a buzzing new song called Dead Air for the game Directive 8020.
Here’s the band explaining: “We were approached by Supermassive Games about their new game Directive 8020 so we went into their offices and got shown a load of what they were working on… As two people who know almost nothing about video games we were surprised to find out where the culture is at. This game is more like a playable horror movie and the atmosphere of it fit perfectly with what we were making on ‘Ghosts On Tape’ We came out of there and made ‘Dead Air’ for them using some rough ideas we had sketched out with Tom Dalgety while recording our last album.”
