Jelly Roll guested on the Pat McAfee Show and among their chat was how the rapper’s tenth studio album – Beautifully Broken – made it to the US number one slot.
He also revealed it got their despite skullduggery.
Beautifully Broken charted with 161,000 units, including 114,000 album sales.
However, in the final days of the chart race another act – who Jelly Roll declined to name – was close to him despite no one expecting it. Then:
“There was an artist that looked like HITS Daily Double projected they wasn’t even gonna be within 50-60,000 albums of me and Rod Wave… And then Thursday night, before the Friday count ends, 40,000 albums [from a] third-party aggregated site. And you’re just like ‘Yo, that’s just slimey.’ I used a great term. Now, Luminate who is in charge of counting record sales, rejected these sales, which is how I ended up with the Number One album.”
Jelly was 1, Rod Wave was 2…. And fans have realised Charli XCX was 3…
