There’s a new metric for judging how badly a movie had done at the cinema: how quickly it comes to streaming.
It’s widely known Joker: Folie a Deux didn’t pull in audiences, and Warner Bros. tried to put a brave face on it:
“Any estimates suggested by anonymous ‘insiders’ or ‘rival executives’ are grossly wrong and continues a trend where rumor is reported as fact… The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this week’s opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary run.”
But they’ve given up as it now has the ignominy of hitting streaming less than four weeks after release…
…aka before the end of October.
