Marvel have two major films coming up: Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars.

These are both major ensemble pieces bringing in actors from all eras and the story offers the franchise the opportunity to do something perhaps critical to the survival of comic book movies: recast, with in lore explanations, many major characters.

Given that Marvel have struggled to do any decent business in the absence of their key stars, the chance to bring them back and start afresh is sensible, if not urgently needed.

Secret Wars is due out in 2027, so expect details in the run up.
