The launch of MTV really was a new era in music consumption and for a while was essential viewing, launching UK dedicated channels in 1996.

These days it’s a ghost, as you can watch any music video you want immediately on streaming and the music curation, the joy of finding something new, has vanished. To be fair, MTV had declined to nothing a long time ago, a fate begun as the channel pivoted into terrible TV programs.

The inevitable has now happened and al MTV UK music channels will cease on New Year’s Eve 2025. Sadly, the only channel to remain is a TV programme one.
