We assume Londoner’s Uncle Monty are named after the threatening character of the same name from absolute Brit-flick classic Withnail and I, because that would be awkward if they weren’t. They’d still see the funny side though, as singer Harvey Montaque has released several excellent albums of wry observation and barbed humour that journeys through the sounds of Scott Walker, the Beatles and 80s indie.
Uncle Monty have three singles out at the moment, and we’re highlighting How Can I Explain?, a song that could have been found in a crate of records from the turn of the eighties into the nineties, although all of these tracks are worth your time… we suspect that if you’re having a bad time relationship wise you’re going to very much need ‘I F*ing H8 U but I Need Ur Luv’, which sounds like a really angry Mystery Jets.
