London’s Evening Standard has recently has to stop doing daily editions and fired around 150 jobs. It’s going through a tough time… but now they’ve entered dangerous territory.
Whether purely as a publicity stunt or as the start of a money saving / staff replacing initiative, the paper is going to have art critic Brian Sewell recreated by AI and print its articles.
Sewell wrote for the paper for 30 years and was famous for being as cutting as diamond. Some loved him, some hated him, art feared him, he died in 2015 and ironically the best person to describe the utter awfulness of this whole idea was him.
