Oscar bosses refused to let Anthony Hopkins zoom his acceptance speech
At the weekend, Anthony Hopkins became the oldest man ever to win the best actor Oscar for a brilliant piece of work.. but didn’t attend the ceremony, preferring to remain at his home. Many have said this brought the show to an abrupt end, and many of us wondered why Anthony wasn’t on one end of a web cam.
Well, the answer turns to be Oscar bosses wouldn’t let him. Multiple outlets are claiming he asked to be allowed to zoom into the awards, and nothing would have been more 2021 than a zoom call, but his request was refused. So he went to bed as it very early morning. Oscar producers have been saying for weeks, with no good reason, that zooming was not going to happen, and it ruined their ending.
