Pull up a seat for the caterpillar cake wars
Marks and Spencer have been trading off the cult appeal of Colin the Caterpillar for years, and if you’re wondering what we mean, it’s a chocolate cake shaped like… a caterpillar. Colin’s quite a big deal in children’s (and adults) cakes and now M&S have started an outright cake war by taking legal action against Aldi’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar.
Yep, Colin is so big, most supermarkets have their own caterpillar cakes, and Marks have decided to start firing the cannons at Cuthbert. There’s several trademarks on Colin and we’ve added a tweet below that shows the two side by side (thanks Paul Bailey). I mean, Cuthbert looks doomed. We’re sure this whole mess is going to get sticky. And fantastically, bizarrely entertaining.
