Queen’s Greatest Hits first came out in 1981, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary a special edition was released. Not only is this selling well, it’s actually looking like being number one in the charts this week.
Intriguingly in this digital age, 86% of sales have been of physical formats.
Presumably of the new CD and not the specially coloured cassettes, a format which needs to leave.
Despite spending 952 weeks in the UK charts, and being the best selling UK album of all time, this will only be its fifth week at number one.
