RATM cancel Euro tour, Reading and Leeds announce poor replacement, internet not happy

Well it’s all kicked off in the last few hours. Rage Against The Machine have had to cancel their whole forthcoming European tour after singer Zach sustained injuries which make a fast tour on the other side of the world impractical. He’s being sent home to heal, and that is more than fair enough.

RATM were due to play Reading and Leeds, and many a ticket holding RATM fan awoke this morning to discover that the festival didn’t have a suitable replacement: in fact they announced the 1975. As you can imagine, people who’d been going for RATM were now deeply unhappy:

So that’s going well then. Obviously Reading and Leeds is a diverse festival with many different acts but we do understand that losing a big heavy headliner and then having it replaced with a rubbish light act is a blow for ticketholders, many of whom wants refunds.
