Review Hiba by Worakls

Hiba is an Arabic word meaning ‘gift from the bottom of the heart’, a translation which surprised us given the nature of Worakls’ new single of the same name.

On it, he merges orchestration, electronics and the soprano of Sophie Pondjiclis, whose worked at the Opera de Paris to create a glorious, opulent but dark song. Yes, Sophie’s voice is crisp and clear, a beacon, but the tone and shape of the music shifts from grand statements to darker beats which suggest an oppressive cloud in the distance.

It’s a brilliant song, powerful and truly incredible, but gift from the bottom of the heart? What are you trying to say Worakls? The world is ending?

Worakls is touring soon with ‘Orchestra’.
