Two titans of classic electronic music have united for a joint single: Soft Cell and the Pet Shop Boys. It’s called Purple Zone, and as you’d expect it’s great. Originally intended to be a Soft Cell song which the Pet Shop Boys remixed, it turned into a full on combined single which will be on Soft Cell’s new album.
The latter are particularly keen, as member David Ball called it “probably our finest pop moment since the early 1980s”, while Marc Almond explained “Working with the Pet Shop Boys was a pleasure, and this track is the perfect combination of us and them.”
The Pet Shop Boys added “We are thrilled to collaborate with such an inspirational duo as Soft Cell on this gorgeous song.”
The *Happiness Not Included LP is out May 6th.
