We rarely cover football on Supajam, but sometimes there’s a story so ridiculous we think it’ll give you a chuckle. So, Southend Utd football club were looking for a sponsor for their west stand, where people sit and watch the game.

Step forward local estate agents Gilbert and Rose, who inked a deal to be the sponsor, leading to the announcement of the Gilbert and Rose West Stand.

Sorry, what?

Yep, they inadvertently created the Rose West stand, which has the same name as one of the UK’s most famous serial killers, Rose West, who operated wither he husband Fred. No one involved realised, but you can get the internet did (especially fans of Southend’s rivals.)

The team has said they’ll examine a rewording…

Southend United have sold the naming rights for their West Stand to the local estate agents Gilbert & Rose.
