Spotify founder repeats intention to buy Arsenal and has secured funds
Billionaire Spotify founder Daniel Ek has repeated his intention to try and buy Arsenal football club from the Kroenkes, who have long been accused of favouring only profits rather than on pitch success.
Given that the current owners are now tarred with the European Super League, Ek obviously smells a chance, and he told CNBC “I have secured the funds for it and I want to bring what I think is a very compelling offer to the owners and I hope they hear me out,” while reports say he’s teamed up with team legends Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera and Dennis Bergkamp for help.
“I just see a tremendous opportunity to set a real vision for the club to bring it back to its glory,” Ek explained, “I just focus on the club, I focus on the fans and I focus on trying to bring the club back to glory… I am first and foremost a fan, that is the most important thing for me. I want the club to do better. That is my primary interest.”
Football fans and people who Spotify only give a few pence a month to are sceptical.
