Regardless of what you think about Tesco and their huge hold over the supermarket industry, you’ve got to admit, it’s pretty damn surprising for them to say go and drink at a pub this week.
Sorry, what?
Yes, the current Tesco social media campaign, as shown in the tweet below, asks you to go to a pub: “Pubs have had it tough this year. So, as good as our deals are, this week we’d rather you support your local pub (as long as you feel safe to do so). Because right now, #EveryLittleHelps.”
Now, some people have said that’s all well and good but the bundles of cheap alcohol they sell have been undermining pubs for years, while the counterpoint is, of course, plenty of people have issues that mean they can’t spend every evening in a boozer.
But whatever side of the argument you are on, it’s a pretty surprising tweet to see.
