Beloved children’s book series Arthur is facing a ban in some Florida schools. Now, this isn’t a Florida Man joke, this is part of Ron de Santis’ fascist wave of legislation and how it’s wiping books off shelves.
So the nutter: step forward Bruce Friedman of Clay County, who dislikes Arthur’s Birthday because of a reference to spin the Bottle. It’s a light reference, a bottle is given to Arthur with the text “Francine’s Spin the Bottle Game” written on, and Bruce believes this adult in joke will cause “DAMAGED SOULS.” His caps.
Bruce is famous, as he once told a meeting he’s compiled a “list of over 3,600 titles that I believe have concerning content… porn, critical race theory, social-emotional learning… fluid gender”.
Sounds like a good time. Anyone shown him Judy Bloom?
