The Netherlands have got their opposition to Israel’s participation in the Eurovision song contest early, pulling out with the statement: “The severe humanitarian suffering in Gaza and the ongoing restrictions on press freedom have contributed to increasing divisions surrounding the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years.”

Well, sort of.

Here’s the thing: the Dutch entry and broadcast has been done by public broadcaster Avrotros. They’re the ones who have quit for 2027.

That means another broadcaster could ink a deal with Eurovision instead and the Dutch would be back in… but would anyone actually do that?

We wait and see.
