Blumhouse has signed a deal with Lionsgate to ‘reimagine’ some of the latter’s horror movies, and the one which pricks your ears up is The Blair Witch Project.

It’s already had two sequels, and the vibe is this isn’t a flat out sequel, but original director Roy Lee is back to helm.

But there’s a problem here.

The Blair Witch Project was such a hit because it felt new, different, and it created massive hype around the concept of was this actually real? People could fool themselves into thinking this happened.

The new Blair Witch has none of that, and is going to be need to be just as innovative again to stop being another retread.
